After rushing for 5,545 yards and 46 touchdowns over his five years with the team from 2019-23, the Las Vegas Raiders allowed Josh Jacobs to leave in free agency last offseason on a four-year, $48 million deal.
Jacobs went on to rush for 1,329 yards and a career-high 15 touchdowns on 4.4 yards per attempt in 2024 while adding another 342 yards and a score on 36 receptions.
The Raiders signed Alexander Mattison to a one-year, $2 million deal to be their top running back last year, but he finished the season with just 420 rushing yards and four touchdowns on a career-low 3.2 yards per carry.
Heading into 2025, Las Vegas is looking to boost their running game again and former Los Angeles Chargers back J.K. Dobbins is the best veteran option left on the market.
In 13 games last season, Dobbins rushed for 905 yards and nine touchdowns on 4.6 yards per attempt and caught 32 passes for 153 yards. When he’s healthy, he’s one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL. However, he’s appeared in just 37 games over his five professional seasons due to multiple serious injuries.
While Dobbins and the Raiders seem like a perfect fit for each other, there’s a chance that other teams could swoop in and sign the 26-year-old before Las Vegas pulls the trigger. Interestingly, Last Word on Sports’ Liam Rebellato identified the Raiders as a potential landing spot for Dobbins, but he also listed the Denver Broncos as a strong fit as well.

The Broncos already lost their starting running back from last season, as Javonte Williams signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys. They now have Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Tyler Badie and Blake Watson in their running back room. That quartet has rushed for just 1,312 yards and four touchdowns in their careers.
Both of them could really use a game-changer like Dobbins. One will have to step up and bring him in for a chance to greatly improve their offense.
