The Philadelphia 76ers added to their roster by signing Olympic player Guerschon Yabusele, but that doesn’t put a trade out of the question.
Philadelphia management may consider one last move before championship race once the February 6 trade deadline has passed The deal would likely bolster their offensive cap, potentially reuniting with former Sixers fan favorite Georges Niang, as suggested by Bleacher Report.
“A former Philly fan favorite, Niang now fits better than ever on this team,” Greg Swartz of B/R wrote:“The 2.01m power forward played in all 82 games for the Cavs last season, averaging a career-high 9.4 points while shooting 37.6 percent from three-point range.”
The other two potential trade candidates were bigs Santi Aldama (Memphis Grizzlies) and Jarred Vanderbilt (Los Angeles Lakers). There is a consensus that the 76ers’ guard doesn’t need any additional help, with Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain and Reggie Jackson making up the room.
The 31-year-old could be a good size player in the Sixers’ frontcourt at 6’3″ and 230 pounds. He’s not the most impressive rebounder, though. average 3.4 rebounds last season.
As Swartz pointed out, Niang has played in every game for the Cavs, making it harder for the Sixers to lure him from Cleveland. A package centered around one of their young forwards and some draft capital could do the trick.
It only took Niang two seasons to become Philadelphia’s favorite, which makes his return all the more exciting.
