Bayern Munich will be hoping to avoid the jitters of their season-opening victory when they host Freiburg in their 2024/25 home opener at the Allianz Arena.
Vincent Kompany’s managerial debut required a late comeback, with the Gunners trailing 2-1 to Wolfsburg on the hour mark, but they came from behind to win 3-2 thanks to Serge Gnabry’s 82nd-minute winner. Harry Kane has scored in three different pre-season friendlies, but failed to find the net in the Bundesliga opener.
The new boss knows that mistakes must be eliminated if they are to reclaim their Bundesliga throne from last season’s darlings Bayer Leverkusen, saying they “lost momentum just after half-time” and that “such gaps often happen because of mistakes”.
Freiburg found themselves in a similar position in their first game of the season, trailing Stuttgart just two minutes into the match, but came back to win 3-1 thanks to a Lukas Kubler brace.

Bayern Munich – Freiburg prediction, odds and tips
- Score prediction: Bayern Munich 3-1 Freiburg
Vincent Kompany may not like it, but Bayern Munich have a lot of work to do defensively if they want to not only challenge for the German title, but also for European glory. Yet, at least for now, it often goes unnoticed as their crazy attacking lineup allows them to outplay their opponents to make up for their defensive woes at the moment. If Joao Palhinha comes into midfield for his first start for Bayern, it will help solve the transition issues.
