The Chicago Bears are coming off an interesting offseason, as they were able to more than replace their departing veteran safeties with Coby Bryant and a steal in the NFL Draft in Dillon Thieneman, and also traded DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
But now, with OTAs right around the corner and the Bears preparing for the 2026 season with a mostly set roster, there is still one clear area of need for this team: edge rusher.
ESPN’s Matt Bowen linked the Bears to an edge rusher who’s still a free agent, and who also happens to be a future Hall of Famer who played for the Bills and Denver Broncos in his long NFL career.
“The Bears are awaiting the return of edge rushers Dayo Odeyingbo (Achilles) and Shemar Turner (torn ACL), and the team didn’t take an edge rusher in the draft,” Bowen writes. “That could open the door for Miller as a sub-package defender for Chicago.”
The Bears being linked to Von Miller, the future Hall of Famer, makes a ton of sense. He’d be a perfect fit for this defense for a few reasons.

Adding Miller to the Bears’ edge rusher room would be a no-brainer if they could bring the future Hall of Famer in.
Miller has 138.5 sacks in his 14-year NFL career, and is still a productive pass rush specialist in the NFL. Last year for the Washington Commanders, he posted nine sacks.
He’d be an instant upgrade over the depth on the roster, and also give the Bears and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen a premier edge rusher to work with.
Miller might not be an every-down player like he was early in his career, but with the Bears having such a huge need for pass-rush upside, a player like Miller would make a ton of sense.
Besides, he likely won’t cost too much to sign, with the 37-year-old nearing the end of his playing days.
The eight-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and Super Bowl MVP would be a great pickup for the Bears’ defense in free agency this offseason.
