Will the Chicago Bears fire their offensive coordinator soon?
Chicago’s offense has been a huge disappointment so far this season, and Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts was marked by some questionable playmaking.
This season was supposed to be the one where the Bears’ offense turned over a new leaf with the addition of first overall pick Caleb Williams.
However, Chicago’s abysmal offense has been the main culprit in the Bears’ last two losses. Whose fault is that? Erik Lambert of Sports Mockery finger pointing at Chicago offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, and it’s hard to disagree.
“People have taken turns blaming Caleb Williams and the offensive line,” Lambert said. “However, it’s becoming clear that a lot of the problems stem from a lack of identity and a lack of discipline.”
“It’s new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s fault. First, facing the NFL’s worst run defense, he made Williams throw the ball 27 times in the first half.”
“But what made it even worse was how Waldron handled the team’s best scoring opportunity. With the ball inside the five-yard line, they ran four straight drives. … What made it worse was that Roschon Johnson, their best short-yardage back, couldn’t carry the ball.”
“Shane Waldron is not going to get through the season at this pace. There’s no reason the offense should be in this state. It’s not inconceivable that the team is going to make a change. This can’t continue.”
By Lambert’s scathing assessment (which the Bears’ performance confirms), Waldron’s days in Chicago may be numbered.
