Solutions available for all devices

If your device is connected to your Wi-Fi but won’t connect to the Internet, here are some reasons why, along with solutions that apply to all devices.

Reset your router connection

If the problem occurs with all devices connected to your Wi-Fi network, there is a good chance that the router is having problems. Just because your device is connecting to your router doesn’t mean the router itself is connecting to the Internet.

You can try to fix these problems by restarting your router or unplugging it for about a minute or two before turning it back on. The first method resets your connection in case the problem is just a glitch, the second restarts the power cycle to reset the entire system.

Check with your Internet provider

If restarting your router doesn’t work, then the problem may be with your Internet provider. If you know your provider’s contact information, it’s a good idea to find out if there is an outage in your area. If your internet loss is not limited to just your home, then the cause could be server errors on your part or broken cables. These problems are usually fixed as soon as they are reported, so informing your provider is a good idea anyway.

Avoid frustration and conclude

Not being able to connect to the Internet when your device is clearly connected to the Wi-Fi network can be a very annoying problem. Knowing how to deal with it when such circumstances arise can save you headaches and frustrations.
