Minecraft has finally announced that a brand new Copper Golem will be coming to the game, marking the rare occasion in which an old mob vote contestant has been added despite losing its original vote.

Up until it was changed in 2025, every Minecraft Live hosted a mob vote, allowing players to choose from three different potential creatures, with the winner being added into the game in the next update. Back in 2021, the Allay won, with fans instantly taking to the adorable pixie-like creature. However, others were devastated, as the other contestant, the Copper Golem, failed to make it into Minecraft.

That is until 2025, when Mojang announced that the mob would be finally coming to Minecraft, despite losing the vote. So, if you’re as thrilled as most of the playerbase is, here’s all you need to know about the Copper Golem, from what they can do, how to make them, and most importantly, when they’ll be added.

What are they

Copper Golems don’t really resemble the Iron Golem or the Snow Golem. Instead, they’re a lot smaller and arguably much more adorable.

In terms of uses, the Copper Golem will help you sort your inventory by taking items from copper chests and organizing them into regular chests. It’ll also freely explore your base and make it a little bit livelier.

As they explore and get older, they’ll begin to oxidise, turning slightly more blue as time goes on. Don’t worry, though, they won’t break or disappear. The oxidation stages are purely cosmetic and work the same way as the copper chests.

It’s also worth noting, if you do come under attack, the Copper Golem won’t protect you like the Iron Golem. Instead, it’ll flee the battle.

How to make Copper Golems

To make the Copper Golem, you’ll need to place a block of copper onto the ground and place a carved pumpkin or jack o’lantern on top of it.

The pumpkin must be the last block you place, but it can be placed by you, another player, a dispenser, or an enderman.

Once you do, the Golem will spawn with a copper chest.

When are they coming to Minecraft?

All we know is that the Copper Golem will be coming to Minecraft sometime in the Fall of 2025. No release date has been announced for its arrival just yet.

Given the Spring to Life update released in March and the next major update, Chase the Skies, dropped in June, we can expect to see a wait time of around three months, meaning the Copper Golem update could drop sometime in September.
