Barcelona have completed an important transfer process to bring in Dani Olmo returns to the club in a €60 million ($65 million) transfer from RB Leipzig.
The Catalan giants have been targeting two of Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad in recent weeks, with Olmo being pursued alongside La Roja team-mate Nico Williams.
However, with the latter expected to reject a move away from Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona focused their efforts on Olmo.
Despite RB Leipzig’s determination to keep the versatile 26-year-old in Germany, the lure of a return to his homeland was too strong and Barcelona snapped up their key target.
Olmo returns ‘home’ with Barça
“I’m really looking forward to getting started. There have been intense days of negotiations, but everything has been done very quickly and I will be grateful to RB Leipzig for life. Now, I’m going all out in this new stage,” he said in a first interview given to the club’s channels.

“Barça has put pressure on me to come back and that is something to be thankful for. I am proud that Barça wants me and that I am here. Now we have to win titles, because we are Barça and we have to compete for everything,” he added.
Olmo graduated from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy from 2007 to 2014, but with his first-team opportunities blocked by Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side, he accepted a move to Dinamo Zagreb, without making a first-team appearance.
His solid progress in Croatia earned him the attention of RB Leipzig and he joined the Bundesliga side in 2019, winning two DFB Pokal titles at the Red Bull Arena.
Barcelona will face AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 12, in their final pre-season match, and Olmo is expected to be revealed to the home fans before kick-off at the Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys.
