The Detroit Lions made three roster changes ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the The Los Angeles Rams.
THE Team announced Saturday He elevated receiver Tom Kennedy and defensive lineman Kyle Peko from the practice squad for Week 1. Additionally, defensive lineman Chris Smith was signed to the active roster.
Kennedy was one of four receivers signed to the Lions’ practice squad following the 53-man roster cut, but he certainly wasn’t the most notable.
In addition to Kennedy, the Lions have veterans Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tim Patrick and Allen Robinson as options at receiver on the practice squad. All three will have to wait another week to make their respective debuts in 2024, however.
Kennedy will add some additional depth to the Lions, who currently have just four receivers on their 53-man roster in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond and rookie Isaiah Williams.
Peko and Smith will provide additional depth options for the Lions with DJ Reader uncertain to play. Reader completed three limited sessions during training this week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday.
Head coach Dan Campbell said there’s a chance Reader plays, but even if he does, he probably will. have your shots limited in his first game back after suffering a torn quadriceps last season.
The Lions and Rams will open their game at Ford Field on Sunday night.
