Does TikTok notify you when you save a video?
In today’s world, many content creators must consider intellectual property rights regarding their TikTok content. You can make a career on TikTok, which means your videos are a product of your business and brand. Unfortunately, it is common for people to download a user’s video and repost it somewhere else to get views on another app.
With that kind of practice, it’s no wonder that many users want to know if they will receive a notification if someone downloads their video. But does TikTok warn you?
NoCurrently, TikTok does not notify a user when someone downloads a video. Generally, this is to avoid flooding a user’s notification center.
How to stop TikTok video downloads
Despite the lack of details a user has about who is downloading their video, there is one step they can take to keep their content safe. TikTok allows you to disable the download option for your videos. If you are having trouble downloading your content for the wrong reasons, disabling this option may help.
To disable downloads for your TikTok videos, follow the steps below.
- Start the Tik Tok application.

- Tap “Profile.”

- Click the menu button at the top of the screen. This will look like three lines.

- Select “Settings and privacy.”

- Tap “Privacy” and scroll down to the “Video Downloads” switch.

- Toggle this switch to disable downloads.

This will disable users’ permission to download your videos, but you will still be able to download other people’s videos if you wish.
How to use privacy settings to stop downloads
You can also use different privacy settings to prevent other people from downloading your content. These privacy settings control who can see the content. If you’re okay with certain people being able to download, this is a great way to restrict who has access to the video.
Make your account private
The most effective way to restrict who has access to your account and all of its content would be to make the account private. Making the account private allows you to approve who can see the content.
To make your account private, follow the steps below.
- Throw your Tik Tok application in any iOS either Android.

- Tap “Profile.”

- Tap the menu button in the top right corner. This looks like three lines.

- Select “Settings and privacy.”

- In the “Account” section, tap “Privacy.”

- Find the “Private account” option and activate it.

This will not affect any of your current followers. If one of your followers is downloading your videos and you don’t want them to, the only way to prevent it would be to disable downloads of your videos.
Make inpidual videos private
You can make inpidual videos private if you don’t want the account to be completely private but want to limit access to specific videos. TikTok has an option to make inpidual videos private. To adjust the privacy settings for your TikTok videos, follow these steps.
- Launch the TikTok app to iOS either Android and select the “Profile” icon.

- Go to the videos tab and find the video you want to change. Tap it to fix it.

- When the video appears, tap the three dots in the bottom right corner.

- A menu of options will appear. Select “Privacy Settings.”

- Tap “Who can see this video?”

- Select “Friends” to limit the video to your followers who you follow. Tap “Only Me” to make the video inaccessible to everyone but you.

These privacy settings are a great way to limit certain content to fewer people. Please remember that this will not prevent people within the approved group from downloading the video. It only determines who has access to the video to do so.
To download or not to download?
When most users download a TikTok video, it is to save it for later viewing. Maybe they ran out of time or loved it so much that they wanted to watch it again and again. These types of users make it worth it for many creators to leave downloads activated. However, many valid reasons limit viewers’ permissions for the videos you make.
