Nickelodeon alum Nancy Sullivan, known for playing the mother in Drake and Joshexpressed his support for his former co-stars after the Silence on set The documentary series revealed some shocking revelations about his time at the network.
Sullivan shared an old photo of Drake Bell about her. social media with a touching message for the actor, who came forward publicly in the doc when anonymous minor former Nickelodeon employee Brian Peck was arrested and jailed for abuse in 2004.
“They weren’t my real children, but I will always love them,” Sullivan wrote in the caption. “It broke my heart into a million pieces to hear everything Drake had inside of him while we were working together. I was devastated and proud at the same time to see the man he has become sit in front of the camera and bravely tell his truth.”
Her statement continued: “Past abuse does not define us and has no right to govern our lives. I know that letting go of this burden will free you in many ways. I hope the memories of the joy he had in our programs one day greatly eclipse the pain.”
She concluded her message by writing: “Sending love to Drake for deep healing and a rich, beautiful life ahead.”
Sullivan is the first Drake and Josh The star has come out publicly in support of Bell since the premiere of the much-talked-about docu-series. One day after his statement, Drake and Josh Student Josh Peck also expressed his support for Bell On Instagram.
Earlier this week, fans began criticizing Josh, who is not related to Brian Peck, for not taking a public stance in light of the numerous allegations raised on Silence on set. But Bell revealed on social media that the actor had contacted him privately.
“I just want to clarify something. I’ve noticed a lot of comments on some of Josh’s TikToks and some of his posts,” Bell said in a video shared on TikTok. “I just want you to know that this is really, you know, processing this and going through this is a really emotional time and a lot of it is very, very difficult. So not everything is made public.”
Bell added: “But I just want you to know that he communicated with me and he’s been very responsive. But he reached out to talk to me and help me get through this. And he’s been really great. So he just wanted you guys to know and take it a little easy.”
