Caitlin Clark has had her fair share of “welcome to the league” moments during her first nine WNBA games.
Hard fouls, bad shooting and double-digit turnovers have plagued Clark’s rookie season so far. However, it is the fouls that have generated the most concern.
As the WNBA viewership increases, more fans have been discussing the fouls Clark takes every game. Most recently, Sky guard Chennedy Carter searched the Indiana rookie’s body, causing a stir on social media.

The play was ruled an offside foul, so Carter avoided a technical or flagrant.
While social media was immediately supportive of Clark, it opened up a wider discussion about his Fever teammates. Why didn’t anyone defend Clark at that time? Draymond Green, a well-known NBA enforcer, intervened in the situation himself and gave the Fever some advice.

Green said Fever should acquire an enforcer to protect Clark. She made the suggestion via an Instagram comment on an ESPN post about the interaction between Clark and Carter.

The Warriors forward doesn’t seem happy with the way Clark’s teammates react when Clark commits a serious foul, so he suggests someone step up and defend the team’s star. Green has done it himself throughout his career. He regularly guards Stephen Curry because he is aware of how important Curry is to Golden State’s success.
The role of executor is not new either. This has been happening for decades in most sports, but particularly in the NBA. Whether it was Dennis Rodman, Charles Oakley or Ron Artest, they were not afraid to protect their team.
Who should be Indiana’s enforcer?
The enforcer could really be anyone who is willing to be the tough guy on the team. The Fever might look inward and hope someone in their squad steps up, but fans have already started looking outward.
One name that has been making the rounds on social media lately is former WNBA player Liz Cambage. The 6-9, 32-year-old center is currently playing in China following a controversial and abrupt departure from the Sparks in 2022. Some fans believe she can be the veteran protector Clark needs.

There has been no indication that the Fever will make any moves, but every hard foul against Clark in the future will be under microscopic attention.
