Peter McGrail looks to get back to winning ways when he faces Marc Leach in Liverpool on a Matchroom Boxing NXTGEN show on April 27. The fight will be broadcast on DAZN around the world.
McGrail is a decorated amateur wrestler who held gold from 2014 to 2019. A European and Commonwealth Games medallist, Liverpool-born McGrail was on a hot streak to start his career. Surprisingly, he lost by knockout in December against Ja’Rico O’Quinn.
A rematch was scheduled until O’Quinn had to withdraw for personal reasons. The touted prospect would have been interested in avenging an early career loss, but now he will set his sights on another challenge.
Leach, from Salford, turned professional in 2014. He is a former English bantamweight and super bantamweight champion who has fallen on hard times. On a two-game losing streak, Leach is also looking to get back to winning ways, starting with McGrail.
