There is a lot of bad blood between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia dating back to their amateur days. With a series between the two at 3-3, the young fighters will compete for the first time as professionals on April 20. At stake will be Haney’s WBC super lightweight title.

Garcia turned professional in 2016. He stopped Luke Campbell for the WBC interim lightweight title, but injuries and mental health issues halted his momentum. After beating Emmanuel Tagoe and Javier Fortuna, Garcia faced Gervonta Davis in a money fight and was stopped in seven rounds. After the fight with Davis, Garcia got a new trainer in Derrick James, eliminating Joe Goossen from the picture.
“KingRy” defeated Oscar Duarte back in December by knockout. There have been some concerns about Garcia’s status for the fight following controversial outbursts on and off social media. The New York Athletic Commission wanted him to undergo a mental evaluation test.
