Why isn’t Detroiters streaming on Netflix?
As previously reported by Variety, the Comedy Central sitcom was slated to begin streaming on Tuesday, Oct. 15. However, fans were dismayed to find that the streaming giant had deleted their announcements surrounding the show’s streaming release, and the show is not in Netflix’s library as promised.
While Uproxx previously reported that Detroiters would be landing on Netflix on Oct. 15, they issued the following update at 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday:
“Detroiters will no longer be available on Netflix starting today. No reason was given by the streaming service.”
DECIDER reached out to Netflix for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.
Starring Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson, the series followed best friends Sam Duvet (Richardson) and Tim Cramblin (Robinson), who together make low-budget commercials for businesses in Detroit.
Nonetheless, fans are certainly not happy, and flooded social media with their grievances.
“Hey @netflix you’re going to announce Detroiters and make an official Cramblin Duvet Advertising post but then delete the post and disappear the show from search results?!??!?!?!?!!!?,” one fan asked on X.
“This is like Christmas being postponed,” another lamented.
“I don’t really tweet ever but am now to say @netflix @NetflixIsAJoke are awful for not streaming. @Detroiters like they said they were going to??? the hell!!!!” someone complained.
Fortunately, Seasons 1 and 2 of Detroiters are streaming on Paramount+. That means Netflix fans either have to hang in there for another update from the streamer, or purchase a Paramount+ subscription (which comes with a one-week free trial if you’re desperate for a rewatch but don’t want to part with $7.99/month).
