The first trailer for ‘The Acolyte’ is here. The latest chapter in the “Star Wars” franchise is coming to Disney Plus on June 4, and we’ll finally get a serious look at what to expect.
After seeing this trailer, the collective response from the Jugo Mobile team was… pided. Honestly, that’s putting it mildly. After many of us saw the trailer, reactions ranged from excitement, intrigue, and impression to disappointment and rejection. After this conversation turned into a 15-30 minute discussion about “Star Wars” in general, it became clear that the trailer for this show set in the High Republic era sparked something in us.
As for my opinion on the trailer? Well, you can read my reaction to the first trailer for “The Acolyte” and see for yourself (or watch the Tik Tok!). But the short version is: I’m just relieved that we’re exploring a new part of a galaxy far, far away. Here’s the rest of the Jugo Mobile team’s first reactions to the trailer, from the good to the bad and even the downright ugly.
Star Wars ‘The Acolyte’ trailer: the good
It’s about time the Jedi got their due on screen, instead of being killed at every available opportunity. So I’m cautiously optimistic about where “The Acolyte” is headed and how they’re going to explore the golden age of the order. At the very least, I’m glad to see lightsabers that don’t have the standard RGB color of the original trilogies, and that one of the Jedi is a Wookiee. There’s never a bad time to see a Wookiee on screen.

“The Acolyte” seeks to take “Star Wars” in a completely new direction, far removed from the problems that plagued the Skywalker era, and I’m on board with this intimate look at the High Republic. We’ll see if he can stick the landing, but the first trailer for him looks promising and steeped in the dark side.
I’m glad Carrie-Anne Moss is kicking ass in this trailer and now has the Force boost to back up her martial arts moves. We don’t get to see the evil off-screen villain controlling his lightsaber to potentially take down the Jedi, but I like that it’s a mystery who he is for now. In fact, I’ve never seen so many lightsabers on screen at once, and that’s fine with me.
Star Wars ‘The Acolyte’ trailer: the bad

I’ve spent the last few years wishing Star Wars would go beyond the Skywalker family and the Galactic Empire that has dominated the franchise for decades. On paper, “The Acolyte” should be everything I want, and yet the first trailer hasn’t sold me. Between the unimpressive fight choreography (the bar fight seems very stiff) and the cheesy dialogue (“this is about power” made me roll my eyes), I’m getting a major “Obi-Wan Kenobi” vibe from this one. latest Disney Plus original. show. And that’s not a compliment…
After more than a decade of mediocre “Star Wars” content from Disney, especially everything after “The Mandalorian” season 2 on Disney Plus, it’s hard to generate enthusiasm for “The Acolyte.” I know some are excited about what we saw in the new trailer, but random Jedi with their multicolored lightsabers, questionable special effects, and tired old lines about the Force haven’t inspired new hope for the franchise. This seems about as boring as “Star Wars” is, which is saying a lot given the lackluster offerings we’ve been subjected to over the years. Tell me out of this one.
Star Wars ‘The Acolyte’ Trailer: The ‘Cautiously Optimistic’
I am intrigued! If nothing else, I’m glad to see another “Star Wars” series with new faces and new locations. Like “Andor” (which certainly has some established characters), “The Acolyte” seems darker and grittier than the usual “Star Wars” movie. Count on me to watch the first two episodes.

I am cautiously optimistic. Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I have a bit of “Star Wars” fatigue, even though I watch everything Lucasfilm puts out.
However, a lot will depend on the plot. “Jedi work to uncover a sinister plot by a lurking villain” has been done many times before, so I hope we get a fresh take on things. Also, this takes place 100 years before “Star Wars: Epsiode I – The Phantom Menace”, “But the Jedi still wear the same clothes? It seems strange.
I know I’ve said it several times, but I’m very relieved that we’re moving away from the Skywalker Saga. That story has apparently been squeezed out and I’m no longer trying to go back to that particular well. So, for better or worse, give me 100 versions of “The Acolyte” instead of another Skywalker-adjacent story, even though I had privately almost convinced myself to skip this show after “Star Wars” burned me over and over again. again with shows like “Ahsoka.” ” and “The Mandalorian.”
