Dexter Lawrence isn’t interested in what anyone outside of the New York Giants’ facility has to say about the team or the job of head coach Brian Daboll.
New York’s situation, which was already bad heading into Week 10’s matchup with the Chicago Bears, got even worse. The Giants led for most of the second half and even carried a 10-point lead into the final four minutes of the game. Chicago, though, rallied to win 24-20.
Following the loss, which moved the Giants to 2-8 on the season, Lawrence was asked if he still believed that Daboll was the right man to turn things around.
“I do,” Lawrence said in a video shared by the Giants Videos account on X. He also made it clear that the opinions of people outside of the organization were not important to him.
“I mean, it don’t matter what anyone else’s opinion, outside of this facility, whatever they say don’t really matter,” he said. “We just gotta come back Wednesday ready to practice.”
Lawrence reiterated that stance when asked for his opinion on people who will continue to call for Daboll to be fired.
“I don’t care,” he said. “I don’t care, man. It don’t matter. It never has, it never will matter what anybody outside of the facility has to say. We just gotta keep coming back every week. Reloading and keep going.”
Sunday’s loss moved Daboll’s record to 20-40-1 in his four-season tenure with the Giants. Worse is that things started well for Daboll, as he led the Giants to a 9-6-1 record and a playoff appearance in his first year as head coach. Since then, New York has gone 11-33 under his watch.
Moreover, the 2025 season has given the Giants plenty of seemingly safe wins turned into losses, with the most recent coming on Sunday.
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted after Week 10’s loss, the “Giants are now 0-4 this season in games in which they led by 10 or more points on the road.”
While Lawrence may not care about what those outside of the organization have to say about Daboll and the team, their frustrations are understandable.
