Everybody’s talking about Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s new Netflix romcom Nobody Wants This, including Today’s Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb, who raved about the stars’ unbelievable chemistry on the show.
“Here’s the thing about Nobody Wants This: Everybody wants it! Every single person wants to watch it, it’s so good,” Bush Hager announced.
Kotb gushed, “The chemistry is off the chain.”
As Bush Hager put it, the new Netflix series follows a “hot rabbi” who strikes up a relationship with “a sexy podcaster.”
“That chemistry … We don’t know what it is, even the husbands want to watch it with the wives!” she said.
The co-hosts then discussed that iconic first kiss Bell and Brody’s characters shared after their date. They aired a clip on Today teasing their intense chemistry but they unfortunately couldn’t show the whole “steamy” moment, considering they’re on daytime television.
“He puts the hands on her face,” Bush Hager recalled as the clip began to play. “Right there, right there. And then he double-handed it!” She and Kotb appeared to be waiting for the actual kiss to begin, but they could only show the beginning of the scene to keep the broadcast PG.
“Oh no, we can only have a little clip because it’s too much. We can’t,” Kotb commented.
“It’s too steamy,” Bush Hager said in agreement.
Kotb was a big fan of Bell and Brody’s on-screen chemistry, so much so she even hinted that it could mean more is going on behind the scenes.
“There are many shows where on-screen chemistry carries on off screen. That happens,” she told Bush Hager. “I know it’s acting.”
Bush Hager practically admonished her for hinting that, especially at the expense of Bell’s husband, actor Dax Shepard. “Don’t make Dax feel self-conscious! Dax, you’re fine! We know your wife loves you,” she said, before she promptly added, “But that kind of chemistry? Wow.”
“Of course! I mean, it was palpable,” Kotb responded.
This wouldn’t have been the first time the Today broadcast took a “steamy” turn. Kotb has shared countless dating stories on the show, including one where she had a “full-on make out” with a former beau in a New York City furniture store.
“Oh god, I’m uncomfortable,” Bush Hager commented while fanning herself.
