Discord is one of the most popular (if not he most popular) communication apps for gamers. It offers a considerable number of useful benefits and options for players and is designed to work in the background, as smoothly as possible, with any game.
Typically, Discord will recognize newly installed games and display them in the Library section of the Home tab. However, some games simply won’t be available, and on the wrong day, it can be more than a little annoying, even if it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
Discord Game Activity
Discord doesn’t really have a library per se. What it does have is Activity Status. This feature lets others know what game you are playing and even keeps a list of games you have played in the past.
When a game is running on the same device as Discord, Discord should automatically display the game in the “Activity Status” section. The app can detect any process running on your device and display the game you are currently playing.
To view the status of your Discord activity, do this:
- Start your game and open Discord.
- Click the Settings gear in the bottom left corner.
- Click on ‘Registered games.’ Previous versions of Discord included this option in Activity status.
- The game you are playing now should appear automatically.
- Scroll down to see a list of games you’ve played previously.
If you want to see what game someone else is playing, click “Friends” in the top right corner of Discord. Then, see your friends and the game they are currently playing.
Of course, users can always disable this status and we’ll show you how to do it below. But, if your game is not showing up for some reason, you can add your favorite games to Discord.
How to change activity status
Although Discord does not give us a Library option, it does give us an Activity Status option. Fortunately, we can make that state say whatever we want!
If your game library does not show the games you are playing; you can easily add it. That is how:
- Open Discord on your device and open the game you are playing.
- Click on the User settings icon in the lower right corner.
- Scroll down and click ‘Registered games‘ (formerly Activity Status).
- Click on the ‘Add him‘hyperlink under Activity Status.
- Select your game from the dropdown list.
- Click on ‘Add game‘ in the bottom right corner of the pop-up window.
This is a really simple process that only takes a few minutes. You can use this to annoy your friends or hide the game you’re actually playing!
How to disable game activity
You may want to hide your current activities from someone else for many reasons. Whether you need a break from playing with a certain player or are playing a game you don’t want anyone to know about, you can hide your activity status in Discord.
All you need to do is open Discord and follow these steps:
- Click on the Setting tooth in the lower left corner.
- Click on ‘Activity Privacy.’
- Turn off the option next to ‘Show current activity as a status message.’
Disabling this option means that others will not see the game you are playing. Of course, you can also disable your online status completely by clicking on your Discord avatar in the bottom right corner.
How to disable game activity in Discord Mobile
If you’re using the Discord mobile app, you can’t add or remove games from your Game Activity. But you can disable your activity status so that no one can see what you are playing. That is how:
- Open the Discord Mobile app and tap the profile button at the bottom right.
- Scroll down and tap Activity status.
- Move the switch next to Show current activity as a status message.
When you move the switch to the left, it will turn gray and your game will no longer appear in your activity.

I don’t see ‘Game Activity’ in Discord. What’s happening?
It is worth mentioning that game activity now appears as Registered games. If you’re using an older version of Discord, you should see Game Activity, but if Discord is updated you won’t see that option.
Another thing to consider is that the ‘Game Activity’ option is only available in the Discord app. If you’re using a web browser, you won’t see “Game Activity.”
If you are looking for this option, you must use the desktop application.
You will see the Registered games option (as shown above). But you won’t see the Add him button, which means you can’t add a game to Discord using the web browser.
Can I add a game to Discord on the mobile app?
No. The mobile app version of Discord only allows you to turn game activity on or off. But it doesn’t allow you to add what game you are playing.
