Most of Hulu’s shows and shows are in English by default. This is great if you speak English, but not so great if you prefer Spanish, for example.

While there are no options to change your entire Hulu to work in the language of your choice, you can change the language of the shows you watch based on your tastes. We will show you how to change the language on Hulu easily.

How to change the language on Hulu on Xbox

If you’re using Xbox Entertainment, then you have all your streaming devices in one place.

When using Hulu, you can change the language of the show you are currently watching. To do this, do the following:

1. Press the Up button or swipe down on your remote to open the playback bar.
2. Locate the Settings menu, indicated by the gear icon at the bottom left of the playback bar. Press or swipe up.
3. Once you open Settings, you’ll see Titles and Subtitles options for the show you’re currently watching.
4. Select the language you prefer.

Changing the subtitles in this way will preserve the settings across all programs, so the next program will apply the same settings immediately, if possible.

Some programs will have different listings depending on the language they are in. For example, South Park has a separate listing for the Spanish call. South Park in Spanish. You will need to find the correct version of the show you want to watch on your Hulu shows.

How to change the language on Hulu on PS4

PS4 has a similar feature to Xbox and is compatible with the latest versions of the Hulu app, so changing the language is also similar:

1. Press the Up button or swipe down on your remote to open the playback bar.
2. Locate the Settings menu (the gear icon at the bottom left).
3. Once you open Settings, you’ll see Titles and Subtitles options for what you’re currently viewing.
4. Select the subtitle language you want to use.

As with Xbox, the Hulu app on your PS4 will save these settings for future shows, so you won’t have to change the subtitles every time you open a show.

Of course, keep an eye out for alternative language shows on your program list. These are often the only way to get Spanish audio, rather than just subtitles.

How to change the language on Hulu on a Firestick

If you’re using a Fire TV Stick, using and switching to Hulu is just as easy:

1. Slide the remote control down to open the playback bar.
2. Swipe up or tap to open the Settings menu.
3. Once in Settings, you’ll see Titles and Subtitles options for the show you’re currently watching.
4. Press On or Off. Select the subtitle language.
5. Hulu will save these settings for all future shows so you don’t have to change them again until you want to remove the subtitles.

As usual, look for the Spanish version of the shows you’re watching to get the best audio and experience in your preferred language.

The Fire TV Stick is a great way to enjoy Hulu, so it would be a shame not to be able to fully understand the show you’re watching.

How to change the language on Hulu on Roku

Hulu is available in its latest version on most newer Roku products so you can watch shows on your favorite streaming device. To enable closed captioning on Roku, follow these steps:

1. Slide the remote control down to open the playback bar.
2. Swipe up or tap to open the Settings menu.
3. You’ll see Titles and Subtitles options for the show you’re currently watching.
4. Press On or Off. Select the language of your choice for subtitles.
5. Hulu saves these settings to your account, so you also have the convenience of having subtitles for your future shows.
6. Alternatively, look for a different language version in the list of shows in Hulu’s main menu. Your program may not have subtitles because the program itself is available in the language you want.

How to change the language on Hulu on an Apple TV

There are several versions of the Apple TV, so changing the language will vary depending on the model you are using.

If you are using an older model of Apple TV (3^third generation and earlier):

1. While the show is playing, press the Up button on your remote to open the playback bar.
2. Press Up again to display more settings.
3. Search for subtitles and then choose from the available languages.

If you are using a 4^th Apple TV generation or newer:

1. Slide the remote control down to open the playback bar.
2. Swipe up or tap to open the Settings menu.
3. Under Subtitles and subtitles, press On to select the language you want for subtitles.

Hulu will save these settings to your profile so you don’t have to repeat this until you’re ready for something else.

You can also search for shows in another language on your Apple TV directly from the Hulu main menu. By doing this, you will be able to have the audio in your preferred language.

How to change the language on Hulu on PC in Chrome

If you’re using a PC, chances are you’re using Chrome to watch Hulu. If so, changing the language of your program is easy. Follow these steps:

1. Move the cursor to the bottom left. The play bar should open.
2. On the left, you’ll see a gear icon. Press it.
3. Click on the Subtitles & Audio option in the menu.
4. Choose the Audio you prefer or Subtitles in the language you want.
5. Some shows don’t have audio in other languages, but you can find the entire show in that language in Hulu’s main menu.

These steps will work for all browsers and also on a Mac.

How to change the language on Hulu on mobile

If you’re watching Hulu on your phone, changing the language is easy if you follow these steps:

1. Open Hulu on the mobile device of your choice and start playing a show.

Is Hulu available in other countries?

If you want to watch Hulu, you might be wondering where it is available. So far, Hulu has not expanded beyond the United States, so if you travel abroad, you will not be able to watch Hulu.

Hulu previously attempted to open a service in Japan, aptly named Hulu.jp, but that effort was unsuccessful. Hulu.jp was acquired by a Japanese company and currently maintains programming for its viewers using Hulu’s existing infrastructure.

As such, it is unclear if and when Hulu will hit the global stage.
