Delete an image in chat
You can delete any text, image or video in Kik chat by doing the following:
- Click and hold the image.
- You will see a popup with paste or delete.
- Choose “Delete” and you’re done.
Delete messages
There may be a situation where you want to delete a message, a picture, or the entire conversation. This can happen because you no longer want to talk to a particular contact or because you have mistakenly uploaded the wrong photo. Either way, here’s how to delete messages:
- Click and hold the message you want to delete.
- You will see a pop-up window with two options: “Paste” and “Delete.”
- Tap “Delete” and you will no longer be able to see the message.
It’s worth mentioning that you can only delete messages from your device because the app stores them on the user’s devices and you technically can’t delete them from the app itself.
Delete chats
Even if you find some Kik members interesting for a while, if communication between the two of you stops, it’s best to make room for new chats by deleting old ones. If you were wondering if this process is complicated, it is not, here we explain how to do it:
- Select the Kik chat you want to delete.
- If you’re using Android, long-press and, in the pop-up window, choose “Delete conversation.”
- If you’re using iOS, swipe the conversation and click “Delete.”
If you deleted a group chat, you will now be automatically removed from the group.
Delete all message history
From time to time, some users like to wipe the slate clean and delete all chats. If you want to do this on Kik, this is the process:
- Click the “Settings” menu and select “Chat Settings.”
- Click “Clear touch history” and all your chats will be deleted.
- Now you can start over and add new contacts or join new Kik groups.
Profile management on Kik
While some people like to change their profile photos, display name, and emoji status from time to time, others are not so interested in doing so. When it comes to profile management, there are a variety of things you can change on Kik:
Display name
Your display name on Kik could be anything from a nickname, a pseudonym, or anything else. When you decide to change it, you’ll need to go to “Settings,” enter “Your Account,” and tap “Name.”
Profile picture
If you decide to change your profile photo and upload a new one, the process is relatively simple. You’ll need to open your “Settings” and click on your photo to see two options, “Take Photo” and “Choose Existing.” When you decide which one you want to use, simply tap “Use Photo” or “Choose” to save it.
emoji status
To keep your Kik friends informed about how you’re feeling every day, open the “Settings” menu and tap the sticker icon. When you choose the emoji, click “Done” and it will be visible to everyone.
Background image
Kik also introduced the option to change your profile background image. The process is the same as when you change your profile photo, but you need to go to “Settings” and click “Set background photo.”
Chat bubble color
Users who like to customize each platform they use love this option on Kik. If you want to make your Kik chats colorful, you can do so by going to “Settings” and then “Chat Settings.” There is an option “Chat Bubble Color”, where you can choose the color you want.
How to temporarily deactivate your account
If you realized that you need a break from Kik, you can easily deactivate your account and reactivate it whenever you want to come back to it. When you decide to deactivate it, you will stop receiving messages, notifications and your name will disappear from other members’ contacts. You can do this by accessing the deactivation website, where you will need to leave your email address.
Of course, you can reactivate your Kik account by logging in. If you forget your username or password, you can reset it using your registration email address.
Customize your Kik
