GroupMe is an application that revolutionized group chats. They have developed a system where users can only access their groups via SMS. The problem: not everyone knows how to access their group number.

GroupMe group number
Each group on the GroupMe platform has a unique designated phone number. And if you’re not sure which one is yours, you just need to look at your phone and the number you’re receiving messages from: that’s your GroupMe number.
If you are a member of multiple groups, you will receive your SMS messages from each number inpidually.
Change phone number
In case something happens to your phone, or if you change your phone number, you will need to add those changes to your GroupMe account. This is how you do it:
- Sign in to your GroupMe account and click on your avatar.
- Once you click on it, you will see your old phone number, next to it you will see the option Edit.
- Enter your new phone number and click Deliver.
- Carefully follow the instructions you will receive on your new phone.
Stop SMS service
If you want to disable the SMS service completely, you will need to Access to your GroupMe account. When you get to your profile, click on your avatar.
There you will find the option “Stop SMS service”. Click OK to stop receiving messages from all GroupMe numbers.
If you’re still receiving SMS messages, text #STOP to any GroupMe text message. This code will end all your communication with your groups and prevent other groups from adding your number.

When someone in the group sends a text message, the message or call is sent to all members, or if they call the number, it will become a conference call regardless of phone type.
Sign up for GroupMe SMS service
After downloading GroupMe from the App Store, sign up for your account with your Facebook login or use an email and password.
You will need to enter your phone number and verify it to complete the setup. The app will automatically send you a text message with a code that you will need to type into the app.
If you want to use GroupMe only via SMS messages, you can activate it in the Settings menu of the app. Then you will start receiving notifications for all group activities.
Once you receive the first SMS messages from the group, you will be able to reply and interact with other group members using the group number.
