Facebook Data Deletion FAQ
How can I save my Facebook data first?
To save your Facebook data, you need to go to settings and then look for the option to download your information. The process may take a long time, but eventually you will be able to access everything from your PC. The steps can be found above.
What data does Facebook collect?
Here is a list of some of the information Facebook collects about you.
· IP addresses
Yes, Facebook collects your IP addresses, from your home address to the free Wi-Fi connection you used during your vacation in Japan. Everything is as clear as day to anyone who can find it, although normal users can’t. However, malicious staff and hackers can always access your IP addresses.
· The ads that caught your attention
If you click on an ad that was highlighted, Facebook will take note of this and recommend similar ones. This is done to “enhance” the app experience, but can also be used to create a profile of you if someone had the information.
· Political preferences
If you click on political ads often enough, the app will also recommend content based on your political opinions. Plus, placing it in the “About Me” section is another way Facebook tracks you.
· Your actions
Facebook tracks every move you make, including your likes, search history, and changes to your profile. That’s all part of the story that you can also find in your profile.
· Financial data
If you use Facebook to buy and sell, the company will obviously have your credit card information on file. Even donations aren’t immune, and you may also talk about your finances on Facebook. All of that goes into the digital file about you.
· Your device data
This includes the browser, phone type, operating system, and more. While this information can help Facebook improve the platform, people with malicious intent can always steal the data and harm you with it.
How can I stop Facebook from collecting data?
An easy way is to turn off tracking of your activity outside of Facebook. That is how:
1. Log in to Facebook.

2. Go to Settings menu.

3. Select Your Facebook information.

4. Choose Activity outside of Facebook.

5. Select Manage activity outside of Facebook.

6. Clear your history.

7. Select Manage future activity and disable the option.

This is not a complete solution, but it can better prevent targeted ads. You won’t search for shoes in Chrome and suddenly see corresponding ads on your timeline.
