Potions in Minecraft offer many benefits that make survival as easy as a walk in the park, while others can be disastrous when consumed. The Strength Potion is one of the best to brew because it grants players a substantial damage boost. However, not everyone has mastered the art of brewing in Minecraft.
Fortunately, potions in Minecraft aren’t exactly difficult to make, although gathering the materials does take some time. You’ll learn all about how to make these useful drinks below.
What do you need
Players must gather the following materials or items to prepare potions of strength.
- fire rods

- Glass bottles

- Water

- Lower warts

- Beer brewing stand

Water is everywhere in Minecraft and you may also find a lot of sand because beaches are sources of water. Therefore, you need to gather a lot of sand, melt it in a furnace, and craft some glass bottles. Glass bottles need to be filled with water to brew the basic awkward potion needed to make strength potions.
Fortunately, biomes like deserts are also full of sand. It depends on your current location and how you explore the outside world that dictates how soon you will get water and sand.
Next, it is best to gather some stone blocks that form a brewing station. Stone is also ubiquitous, as a few minutes of exploring will net you at least three blocks. However, this is where things start to get more challenging.
The other materials can only be found in the Nether. To reach the Nether, you must build or repair a Nether Portal. Once you build and activate one, you gain access to the remaining materials.
The best way to find Blaze Rods and Nether Warts is to locate an Abyssal Fortress. These structures are found naturally in the Nether and you will have to find them by exploring.
Blazes are found in Nether Fortresses, so you will have to kill them to get enough Blaze Rods. After that, wander around the Abyssal Fortress and harvest Nether Warts. These mushrooms are red and grow in the Soul Sand gardens.
Another source of Nether Warts is a bastion remnant. These are large castles generated in the Nether.
Blaze Rods are necessary to produce Blaze Powder, but it is essential to keep some raw as they make excellent fuel for furnaces. One is needed to create a brewing station.
To make Blaze Powder, open the crafting menu and place some Blaze Rods in any slot. It’s that easy.
Here’s how to create a brewing station.
- Walk over to your crafting table.

- Interact with it to open the crafting menu.

- Place three stone blocks in the bottom three slots.

- Drop a Blaze Rod into the middle slot.

- Get your brewing position.

Once all this is resolved, you can start making potions of strength.
Make strength potions
You must have all the ingredients in your inventory. Doing so eliminates the need to open chests and retrieve something you forgot. Once everything is complete, you can leave the Nether if you are still there.
- Come to your brewing station.

- Place a Blaze Rod in the leftmost space.

- Place three water bottles in the bottom three slots.

- Drag and drop a Nether Wart into the top slot.

- Wait until the nether wart disappears and you will get three discomfort potions.

- Fill the top space with one unit of Blaze Powder.

- Wait again and you will get Strength Potions.

You can leave the Strength Potions at the brewing station and drop a unit of Luminous Stone Dust in the square above. By doing so, these drinks will become Strength Potions II. These give an even more significant damage increase.
Use potions of strength
A standard Strength Potion will grant you a damage increase of three, while a Strength Potion II has a damage increase of six. The first one lasts eight minutes, but the improved potion lasts only a minute and a half. Therefore, you must prepare these potions according to your needs.
Because weaker weapons deal less damage to mobs, you may have difficulty in combat without assistance. Strength potions are perfect for killing pesky enemies in just a few hits, especially when the enemies in question are difficult to kill.
What’s more, you can convert Strength Potions into Splash Strength Potions. Replace Glowstone powder with gunpowder. Splash potions are much easier to use in a fight because you don’t slow down to drink from the bottle, a problem standard concoctions have.
Ender Dragon and Wither are two Minecraft bosses that take a long time to kill. If you combine enchanted weapons and lots of potions, you can make these fights trivial affairs. Where others fight, you easily crush the bosses.
Increased damage
No player who wants an advantage in combat will stop brewing Strength Potions, as gathering the ingredients isn’t difficult once you access the Nether. You can fight more efficiently and significantly reduce the chances of dying. Combine these potions with powerful equipment to further increase your damage output.
