When you’re planning a trip or just not sure how to get to a particular place, Google Maps is one of the most reliable navigation apps you can use. Google Maps not only shows you the fastest route to your destination, but also allows you to choose your means of transportation. In addition to walking, you can select driving, public transportation, shuttle services, cycling, and flight mode.

How to go from walking to driving in Google Maps on an iPhone
Although Apple Maps is preinstalled on your iPhone, you can also download Google Maps to your device. To switch from walking to driving in Google Maps on your iPhone, follow the steps below:
- Open the Google Maps app on your iPhone and tap the search here field at the top of the screen.

- Write your destination and tap the look for in the lower right corner of the screen.

- Go to the Addresses option below the map.

- Select your starting location. If it is your current location, tap the Your location option. If you plan to start driving from another location, please write it in the field above.

- Allow Google Maps to access your current location and audio speakers, and then tap the Car icon at the top of the screen.

- Right next to the Car icon, you will be able to see the exact amount of time you will need to get there. Google Maps will show you the fastest route to your destination by default. In addition to the main route, which will be blue, alternative routes will also appear highlighted in gray.

- When you are ready to start your trip, tap the Begin button at the bottom of the screen.

If you want to use your Android device to switch from walking mode to driving mode in Google Maps, try doing this:
- Open Google Maps and go to search here field at the top of the application.

- Choose your destination. If you searched for that location on Google Maps before, you would already be in the Recent eyelash.

- Allow Google Maps to access your current location and audio speakers, and tap the Addresses button below the location name.

- Choose your starting location. If it’s your current location, tap Choose location. Another way to select a destination from the recommended locations or type it in the search field above.

- Select the Car icon at the top of the screen.

- If you are going to start your trip immediately, tap the Begin button at the bottom of the screen. Google Maps will immediately show your current location and you can begin your trip.

If you want to see directions more clearly, you can use Google Maps on your computer. To switch from walking to driving in Google Maps on a desktop PC, follow the steps below:
- Open your browser and go to google maps page.
- Write your destination on the Search on Google Maps field in the upper left corner.

- Click the Directions button in the left sidebar.

- Choose your starting location; Google Maps will show you the fastest route to your destination.

- Find the Car icon in the top left corner of your screen and click on it.

- You can send these instructions to your phone so you can follow them while driving. To do this, click on the Send directions to your phone option on the left side of the screen. You can also send the instructions to your phone via email or phone number or print them.
- When you’re getting ready to leave, open the directions on your phone, tap the Begin and start driving.
Below this p you can see all the recommended routes to your destination. The best and fastest route is in blue and the alternatives will be gray. For each route the exact amount of time and distance to reach the destination is shown. If you decide to take another route, Google Maps will automatically adjust your location and change directions to your destination.

Can I add a stop to my directions?
Yeah! If you are planning a trip, whether on foot or by car, you can add stops. Tap Addresses after entering your destination. Then touch the three points icon to the right of your starting point. Tap Add stop. Find the location and tap the three lines in the direction box to drag it to the order in which you want your trip (i.e. add the stop to the second destination).
How does Google Maps calculate walking time?
Google Maps estimates that people walk at 5 km/h (3 MPH). If you walk faster, stop for breaks, or encounter barriers (such as train tracks), your estimated arrival time may vary slightly.
