How to tame a fox in Minecraft Java Edition

The original version of Minecraft, which has received the most updates, is now known as Java Edition. This version of the game runs on desktop computers, whether the system used is Windows, Linux or macOS. Foxes were introduced to the game with its 1.14 update.

If you want to tame foxes, you must follow these steps:

1. First, if you want to tame a fox, you’ll need to know where it spawns. There are two types of foxes in the game, the snow fox with white fur and the red fox with red fur. The snow fox roams wild in snowy taiga biomes, while its red cousin can be found in taiga biomes or giant tree taiga.
   If you are new to the game and unfamiliar with biome types, you will recognize the taigas for their abundance of spruce trees and mountainous terrain. Giant tree taigas are essentially the same except the trees are much larger than normal. The snowy taigas are its snowy version.
   
2. Naturally spawned foxes will be wary of the player, so you will need taming items before proceeding. Foxes like sweet berries, and fortunately, they grow quite frequently in all taiga biomes. You can recognize a sweet berry bush by its telltale red markings. Collect everything you can because you will need them. Approximately 70 will be enough.
   
   While you do so, we will collect other resources such as wood, earth or stone, with which we can build a wall. You’ll also need a leash, as foxes won’t automatically follow you like wolves do. To create a track, you will need four strings and a slime ball. Thread can be obtained from spiders, mosquitoes, cats or by breaking cobwebs. Slime balls can be obtained from slimes or sneezing baby pandas.
   An advantage is created by combining items on the crafting grid. Place the slime ball in the center, then place the strings in positions 1, 2, 4, and 9. This combination will create two leads that you can use.
3. Taming foxes requires you to find more than one. They appear in groups of two to four, so if you see one, chances are there’s another one out there too. Foxes are very skittish and will run away from players they spot. To get close to a fox you will have to sneak so it doesn’t run away.
   
   Once you locate a group of at least two foxes, go into stealth mode and then approach them slowly. Try to find two foxes that are close together and then proceed to wall them up. Foxes can jump two blocks, so make sure your wall is at least two blocks high so they don’t escape. It’s easier to block one fox and then proceed to block the next one. You can then connect the walled areas and then slowly move them closer to each other while enclosing them. You will need them both to be close to each other for the next step.
   
4. With the foxes now close to each other, he proceeds to feed them each a sweet berry. You will have to give it to the foxes one at a time. To feed a fox when on desktop, right-click on a fox while holding a sweet berry in your hand.
   
5. If two foxes that are close to each other have sweet berries, they will proceed to reproduce. You’ll know this is happening when you see heart icons appear above their heads. After a few seconds, a baby fox will appear between them. This baby fox will trust the player completely, although it will follow the adult foxes.
   
6. Feed the baby fox as many sweet berries as you can. This will speed up their growth a little. You will have to do this to stop them from following the adult foxes, who will still be quite afraid of you. Once you’ve fed the baby fox your sweet berries, wait a moment until it grows into its adult form.
7. Once the baby fox transforms into an adult, take out the leash and use it on your newly tamed fox. Now you can take your new pet to your base or have it follow you as you explore the world. Foxes have been in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft since the beta, and they behave in much the same way as their Java Edition counterparts. How to tame a fox in Minecraft Education Edition

Minecraft Educational Edition is based on the Bedrock version, so they have quite similar steps. The only change is that players who do not have worldbuilding permissions may be limited in what they can do.

The steps given in the Java version of the game must be followed in the Educational Edition if you want to tame a fox. This would present a problem for players who have been locked in an area without a taiga biome or who have an unchanging world, as they cannot break blocks to collect resources. If the enemies are also off, then collecting threads and slime balls can be quite difficult.

Taming foxes in Education Edition is entirely possible by following the steps outlined above, but this requires the cooperation of the educator to gather the necessary materials.

If you’re not in the mood to roam the world in search of taiga biomes, you can summon foxes. They will still be wild and you will need two of them to raise a tame fox, but this reduces the time you need to find them. However, before you can enter commands, you will need to have cheats enabled for your world. To do this, follow these steps:

Java Edition – New World

1. On the world selection screen, click Create New World.
   
2. Before entering the world name, click More world options.
   
3. Click Allow Cheats to activate it.
