Until iOS 16 is released in September 2022, you only have one possible solution to view saved Wi-Fi passwords on your iPhone without jailbreak.
Key ring
Keychain is Apple’s built-in password manager, which will automatically save your passwords when you enter them in Safari or other apps. This also includes your Wi-Fi passwords. Many users have reported mixed results with storing Wi-Fi passwords in Keychain, so don’t be surprised if this solution fails for you.
The keychain must be activated when you first entered the Wi-Fi password in order to recover them. It won’t store passwords retroactively even if you use Wi-Fi daily. To find your Wi-Fi password in Keychain, follow the instructions below.
- Go to your Settings app.
- Tap “Passwords & Accounts.”
- Select “Website and app passwords.”
- The screen will show all available passwords.
- Find the Wi-Fi network you need to access and tap the name. You will need to enter your password, FaceID or Touch ID.
- The password will appear.
Currently, this is the only option to view a Wi-Fi password on your iPhone without the new iOS 16 update. If you didn’t have Keychain enabled or rejected saving when you first entered the password, you won’t be able to use this method.
How to View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on an iPhone Running iOS 16
iOS 16 will be the first major system update on iPhone that will allow you to view saved Wi-Fi passwords. Currently, its official release is scheduled for September 2022. However, the free public beta is now available for download.
If you have iOS 16 on your iPhone, you can follow these instructions to view saved Wi-Fi passwords.
- Open the Settings app and go to Wi-Fi.
- Locate the Wi-Fi network with the saved password you want.
- Tap the blue information icon next to the Wi-Fi network name.
- Tap “Password.” You will be asked to enter FaceID, Touch ID, or your password. The password should become visible.
- Click “Copy” to temporarily save the password to your clipboard.
You should only copy and paste a password if you enter it somewhere else. For example, saving a Wi-Fi password in a Notes app is not secure.
