It’s a battle for North American soccer supremacy as the MLS All-Stars take on their Liga MX rivals.
The annual MLS All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 24 at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, home of the reigning MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew. It marks the return of the All-Star Game to Columbus for the first time since 2005, and it’s also a return to the format that was used during part of the pandemic, when finding an international opponent was more difficult. Last year, MLS returned to its standard format with a match against Arsenal, but this year it’s another cross-border battle.
MLS All-Star manager Wilfried Nancy has called up a strong squad, featuring players such as Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Cucho Hernandes and Riqui Puig, among many others. Former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is also expected to play for the MLS side.
On the other hand, Liga MX brought in legendary midfielder Andrés Guardado, as well as Mexican National Team stalwarts Carlos Rodríguez, Jesús Orozco and Guillermo Martínez, who scored the equalizing goal in a friendly match in June against Brazil.

MLS All-Star Game lineups and team news
With Wilfried Nancy as coach, many of the Columbus Crew’s stars are expected to start on their home court. There’s also a wealth of attacking talent to choose from, from Denis Bouanga to Cucho Hernandez to Diego Rossi.
Unfortunately, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will not be there, but that will create opportunities for other players to make their mark on the game. And Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are still here to represent Miami.
Projected starting lineup for the MLS All Stars team (3-4-3): Burki (GK) – Moreira, Martins, Glad – Rosenberry, Nagbe, Busquets, Alba – Bouanga, Hernandez, Rossi.
The Liga MX Apertura season has just begun before the Leagues Cup break, and Andre-Pierre Gignac, along with Cesar Huerta, have two goals in their first four games of the season. Club America manager Andre Jardine will likely support some of his players in the starting lineup before moving to the substitutes after halftime.
