Real Madrid fans have been dealt a major blow, as Kylian Mbappe has been officially ruled out of the upcoming Madrid Derby against Atletico due to a hamstring injury.
The club announced the bad news on its websiterevealing that Mbappe was injured during Tuesday’s match against Alaves.
When will Mbappé be able to return his injury?
Following medical tests, Real Madrid have confirmed that Mbappe has a hamstring problem in his left leg. “He has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury… awaiting further assessment,” the club said in its official statement.
The injury is expected to rule out the French star for around three weeks, leaving Los Blancos without their key striker for a crucial run of matches, including the highly anticipated clash with Atletico Madrid.

There had been rumors that coach Carlo Ancelotti was considering resting Mbappe for the match against Alaves, but the star striker eventually started. Now that Mbappe is forced to sit out, Ancelotti faces a difficult decision over who will take part in the derby.
Mbappe, who had hit his stride with a series of good performances, will miss key matches during his recovery, just as he was gaining confidence. Real Madrid fans will be hoping the rest of the team can step up in his absence, but there is no denying the scale of the challenge ahead without their talisman.
The Madrid Derby has become much more difficult for Los Blancos.
