The New York Jets are on an offensive roll through the first three games of the season and there could be an opportunity to add a superstar weapon to the mix in the near future.
As the Las Vegas Raiders suffered a major setback against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, head coach Antonio Pierce expressed his displeasure with the attitude of some of the team’s players. Star WR Davante Adams was seen shaking his head before halftime and even slowing down on a few runs throughout the game as the Raiders tried to get back into the game.

The beloved head coach didn’t directly point fingers, but his sentiment during Sunday’s postgame press conference suggests Adams is likely among the players he’s talking about.
The Raiders aren’t expected to be a playoff team this year with a win total of 6.5 games, which is one of the lowest in the NFL. They were coming off a surprise win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 that raised a few eyebrows, but then they suffered a loss to the winless Panthers and their quarterback Andy Dalton.
Adams has had a tough time in Las Vegas, with his former college and professional teammate Derek Carr leaving as a free agent a year ago. The Netflix series “Receiver” gave a fascinating glimpse into Adams’ week-to-week life with the Raiders and even then, he seemed fed up with the team, sulking on the bench and seeming unhappy with his surroundings.
With little chance of making the playoffs anytime soon, it might make sense for the Raiders to trade Adams to recoup some cap space. Adams is a 31-year-old receiver who will be worth $44.1 million on the salary cap in 2025, so the Raiders should consider moving on.
The Jets appear to be the perfect destination for Adams, with his former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers now in New York. Jets general manager Joe Douglas also has the money to facilitate a trade, as any team trading for Adams would need $16.6 million in salary cap space and the Jets currently have $17.3 million due to the absence of Haason Reddick.
Adams in New York would be a great addition alongside a young star like Garrett Wilson and another big WR like Mike Williams who has looked solid so far. Odds have already been released by betting sites on Adams’ potential next team and the Jets are heavily favored (-300). It may not be much to bet on, but his situation in Las Vegas should be one to keep an eye on.
