Suddenly in blistering form since their change in management, Manchester United put a four-match Premier League winning streak to the test as they visit relegation-threatened West Ham on Tuesday.
Since discarding Ruben Amorim and installing Michael Carrick as interim boss, the Red Devils are on fire, having toppled Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham in successive games.
The sudden burst has launched them into contention for Champions League qualification, with United sitting fourth in the league standings. Yet Carrick’s side cannot let up if they wish to return to Europe’s top competition, as a litany of clubs are just behind them waiting to pounce.
For West Ham, the situation is far more dire. Three wins in their past four have given the Hammers life, but they still sit 18th in the standings, three points back of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest.
