Liverpool decimated Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 on Sunday as they went on to win their 20th league title in English football.

However, the Reds have already started planning for their future. While Arne Slot has hinted that there won’t be many incoming players in the upcoming summer transfer window, Liverpool will still look to fortify a couple of positions.

While they desperately need a right-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves Anfield, the Reds also need a midfielder who can control the tempo and be the lynchpin in Slot’s system.

Reports from The Sun suggest that the Champions are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

The 21-year-old central midfielder could be the ideal player for Liverpool in midfield. He showed no signs of nerves last season despite moving to the Premier League from Blackburn.

Wharton has the calibre to be one of the best midfielders in Europe and was deservedly a part of England’s 26-member squad for the 2024 European Championships.

Coming back to the reports, Liverpool are reportedly planning a bid in the region of £50 million plus bonuses.

Will Adam Wharton join Liverpool?

Along with Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid are also big admirers of the 21-year-old midfielder. But he missed a big part of this season due to injuries, hence their interest in the Crystal Palace star isn’t concrete.

Wharton has solidified his position in the Premier League after he joined Crystal Palace from his hometown club, Blackburn Rovers, last year.

His performances in his first campaign in the English top tier were so impressive that former England boss Gareth Southgate named him in England’s squad for the 2024 European Championships.

Wharton is someone who can anchor the midfield and has exceptional skills with his vision, passing range, defensive aggressiveness, and ability to carry the ball forward with efficiency. He could be the perfect man in the middle of Slot’s system.

The youngster felt this season was a massive litmus test for him. It was his opportunity to take the next step at this level, but he missed a major chunk due to injury and was forced to restart.

The 21-year-old only featured in 19 Premier League games, registering 34 tackles. He also provided two assists whilst creating 25 chances. He has featured in every game for Palace since his return to fitness.

Now, it depends on the Englishman to decide if he wants to refine his skills at the Selhurst Park for another campaign or will he take the next step in his career and move to Anfield.
