Manchester United are on the verge of securing the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, following a key update from the Uruguayan which suggests the transfer is just hours away from being completed.
According to a report from Uruguayan newspaper El Pais, via Sport Witness, it is only a matter of “hours” before Ugarte’s transfer to United is finalised.
The clubs are reportedly working out “minor details” that are unlikely to cause any delays.
This is a significant step forward after a month of negotiations, where initial differences over the transfer amount appeared to be holding back progress.
Ugarte’s move to Old Trafford almost complete
Ugarte, who led Ligue 1 in total tackles last season with 98 despite playing just 25 games, is set to be Erik ten Hag’s final addition to the squad before the transfer window closes. His impressive passing accuracy of over 91% underlines his potential value to United’s midfield.
Manchester United manager Ten Hag has not given any details on any transfers in the pipeline following the recent defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, but has confirmed that the club are still looking to strengthen their squad.
Ugarte’s arrival could also pave the way for the departure of Scott McTominay, with a fee reportedly agreed with Napoli for the Scotland international.
