New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is expected to dive into the January transfer window to bolster his squad.
The Portuguese coach has already confirmed he will not raid former club Sporting CP in the mid-season market but he is on the hunt for new faces as part of a squad refresh at Old Trafford.
Amorim kicked off his tenure as Red Devils head coach with a 1-1 Premier League draw at Ipswich Town as an indication of the task ahead.
Despite the pressure of reviving United back into a team capable of challenging for trophies, Amorim is confident he can implement a fresh approach, but that is likely to mean changes in personnel.
The former midfielder is expected to steer United towards a hybrid 3-4-3 tactical formation – which he used to superb effect in Lisbon – and reports from Caught Offside indicate former United player Angel Gomes is an immediate target.

Gomes has come back onto the Premier League radar this season after being handed and senior England debut by Lee Carsley in the UEFA Nations League back in September.
The 24-year-old made just five EPL appearances across four seasons after emerging through the Red Devils youth system and he opted to join Lille ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The Ligue 1 side loaned him to Boavista in his first year to gain experience, but on his return to France he established himself as a key player in the Lille midfield with over 100 top-flight appearances.
With his contract expiring at the end of the 2024/25 season, United have the option to delay a move, to try and complete a summer free transfer.
Lille are aware January is their final chance to secure a transfer fee, and could strike a cut-price deal, if United are willing to step up their interest.
