The Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings have been named as the best and worst landing spots for a Pro Bowl quarterback who could be on the trade market this offseason.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes Arizona Cardinals signal-caller Kyler Murray would fit well in Los Angeles, but Murray wouldn’t flourish in Minnesota.
Here is Knox’s reasoning for his claims:
“If Murray is released, the rival Los Angeles Rams could provide the perfect landing spot for him. He could rebuild his NFL stock under Sean McVay—as Baker Mayfield once did—and L.A. will eventually need an heir to the 37-year-old Matthew Stafford.”
“Murray shouldn’t want to join the Vikings, even though they have a QB-friendly coach in O’Connell and talented pass-catchers like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. While O’Connell helped rebuild QBs like Darnold and Jones, his system is better suited for a traditional dropback passer, which Murray is not. Despite having a much longer NFL resume, Murray might actually have a difficult time beating out McCarthy for the starting job—especially since the Vikings will go with the guy in whom they’re invested if things are close.”
The Cardinals could look to trade Murray after an injury-riddled 2025 campaign, which saw him play just five games due to a foot injury. Even when Murray was on the field, it was clear that he and the Cardinals needed a fresh start.
Though it’s incredibly unlikely, Murray would be a dream fit with the Rams. The 28-year-old would be an electric replacement for Matthew Stafford, who could end up retiring after the 2025 season, and could find success in Sean McVay’s offense with a bunch of dynamic playmakers, including All-Pro receiver Puka Nacua, future Hall of Fame receiver Davante Adams, and a dynamic running back duo in Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.
However, as stated above, Arizona isn’t going to trade Murray in the division, so Los Angeles isn’t a realistic landing spot.
On the other hand, Minnesota is more of a possibility, as the franchise must add a veteran quarterback to push or even replace J.J. McCarthy. Murray is an option, but the Vikings could look to go in a cheaper direction, which would be wise.
Overall, Murray’s situation in Arizona is unique, and there may not be many suitors for the former Pro Bowl signal-caller. We’ll see what the future holds for Murray in 2026.
