Three last-place finishes in four years haven’t built confidence in Boston, but everyone has some hope in the spring and Red Sox fans are no different.
Although there are many questions about the starting pitcher in particular, the Sox still have Rafael Devers and hope to see Triston Casas and Jarren Durán build on strong 2023 seasons.
The Red Sox made a couple of big trades in the offseason, sending veteran starter Chris Sale to the Braves for young infielder Vaughn Grissom and acquiring outfielder Tyler O’Neill from the Cardinals for two pitchers, and also signed right-hander Lucas Giolito to lead the rotation. .
In addition to Sale, Alex Verdugo, Justin Turner, Adam Duvall, Corey Kluber and James Paxton have moved on, giving Boston a younger look entering this season under a revamped front office led by Craig Breslow.

Red Sox 2024 Spring Training Schedule
Red Sox pitchers and catchers will hold their first workouts on Wednesday, February 14, with the first full-squad workout to follow on Monday, February 19.
Games begin four days later with an exhibition against Northeastern University on Friday, February 24 before the Grapefruit League season begins the next day against the Orioles in Sarasota.
There are a couple of changes to Boston’s spring training schedule this year: The Red Sox will travel to the Dominican Republic to play the Rays in Santo Domingo on March 9-10. They will then close out their exhibition schedule with games against the Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on March 25-26.
