The latest new managerial era at Manchester United begins in earnest on Sunday when the struggling former dynasty travels to Ipswich Town.
The Premier League game is Ruben Amorim’s first officially as head coach, having arrived from Sporting CP to replace Erik ten Hag.
And Amorim had plenty of insightful comments at his first pre-match press conference, taking place on Friday.
One interesting topic of discussion came when he was asked what he perceived as the team’s current weaknesses, having taken control of training from Monday.
“In simple things, I think, if you want to speak about the team and the way we play, I think we lose the ball too often, we have to be better at running back, I think that is clear for everyone and I think we have to be very good on the details,” explained Amorim.
“Sometimes we are hoping to change big things, but I think it is the small things. We have to improve on the small things. In the small things, I think I can help these players a lot.”
With that being said, the 39-year-old does not believe he will need to completely tear up the script when he implements his changes.
“It is not revolution,” Amorim explained. “Football is not so different with five players at the back, three players at the back or four players at the back.
“I cannot say (it will be) evolution, we have to wait and see. But we will play a different type of football.
“We have our ideas. I’m not saying they’re the best ideas but it is our way of seeing football.
“It’s not revolution or evolution, it’s change.”
