Scotland face a tough challenge at Euro 2024 as they attempt to reach the knockout stage of a major men’s tournament for the first time.
Steve Clarke’s side were eliminated in the group stage of the previous European Championship, despite a 0-0 draw with eventual finalists England, and must once again attempt to navigate a difficult first phase of the tournament in 2024.
However, a strong qualifying tournament, which saw them secure their place in the final in Germany with two rounds remaining, has given fans some confidence that they could reach the last 16 this year.
Scotland will face two warm-up matches before their Euro campaign begins in mid-June. Before then, coach Clarke will have to reduce his provisional squad to 26, meaning two players will miss out on a place in the final.

How many players are in the Euro 2024 squads?
Teams can name squads of up to 26 players (an increase of three from the previous tournament rules) with the minimum roster size set at 23.

Scotland have been drawn into Group A of Euro 2024 and will be challenged to kick off the tournament with a match against host nation Germany on June 14.

Can Scotland replace players in their squad for Euro 2024?
Once the final squad has been made official, changes can only be made due to injury or illness until the opening match of the tournament.
The UEFA tournament regulations state: “If players or goalkeepers included on the list become seriously injured or ill, they may only be replaced if both their team doctor and a doctor from the UEFA Medical Committee confirm that the injury or illness is serious enough to prevent them from participating in the final phase.
While outfield players must be replaced before their team’s opening match, goalkeepers can be changed before the next scheduled match once the tournament is underway.
