Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 concluded in the most surprising way imaginable, with one player sacrificing himself moments before the final game, and that contestant is now explaining his actions. Meaning SPOILERS ahead…
Following a tense game of ‘Red Light, Green Light,’ Player 072 (Perla) narrowly defeated Player 017 (Vanessa), Player 183 (Steven), and Player 302 (Dajah) to be crowned Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 winner.
But in the Squid Game before that finale, both viewers and competitors couldn’t believe their eyes when during the ‘Five Coins’ test, Player 398 (Trinity) told his fellow contestants – through tears – which hand the losing coin was in, thereby effectively forfeiting the game, and sending himself home.

His fellow contestants told him to stop, while those actions have divided fans of the show, but his Squid Game suicide made for Season 2’s most memorable moment, and in a new Netflix interview, Trinity has been explaining the decision.
Trinity says “ramifications” of Squid Game decision are still hitting home
Following a screening of the Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 finale, the five finalists spoke about their experiences on the show, and Trinity addressed what the host refers to as his “self-immolation.”

“I’m very competitive,” says Trinity. “I come from a tennis background in college. So I was like ‘I know I’m going to win it.’ My goal was Top 50, sleep in the bedroom, get an interview, right? I crushed all those, and I did not know I was going to do that until I was sitting on that chair and they explained the rules.

“I saw Vanessa at the end, she was like ‘What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do?’ They didn’t show this but off camera she was like ‘Can I get a drink of water?’
“Steven? Steven’s chilling, you know what I’m saying? But Dejah – I resonate with her story being a single mom, because I grew up with three other sisters in a single household.
“So I was like ‘I know I’m going to be fine. I got Christ, I got Jesus, and he always pulls through, no matter what.’ He wins in the end every time.”

But Trinity adds: “It was a tough decision, I will say. The ramifications are still hitting a little bit.”
The host then asks if watching the episode back changed his perspective on that choice, and Trinity responds with “No. I still feel peace with it. I’m still rocking with it. Because I know if I kept playing, I would have felt un-peace. It would have been sleepless nights.”
Finally, he jokes later in the interview that “If I get voted back in I would not do that again – I’m playing cutthroat next time!”
