A new patch was released this week for the hit and cozy farming simulator “Stardew Valley,” adding minor bug fixes and translation changes to the game’s major version 1.6 update that arrived on PC last month. But if you’re waiting for the Nintendo Switch version, you might still have to wait a bit.
This week, “Stardew Valley” creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone reassured fans about X (formerly Twitter) that “adaptations for consoles and mobile devices are still in progress.” He went on to thank fans for their continued patience. While we still don’t have a specific release date for when version 1.6 will arrive on one of the best portable consoles, Barone previously said that the goal is to release it “as soon as possible.”
The latest update for PC (Version 1.6.6.) includes balance and gameplay changes, translation changes, some mod-related patches, and bug fixes. This includes a solution for problems related to the Chinese translation that was revolutionary for some Stardew Valley players. A small but important modification floods the Stardew Valley community social media with excitement and more puns than you can imagine. “Bee houses now work with flowers in garden pots,” says official 1.6.6 patch notes.
While this may not seem like much at first glance, it solves a recurring headache for players trying to maximize their profits and perfect their farm layout. When adult flowers are planted near bee homes, this affects the type of honey produced, increasing the selling price of the product. But, until this update, those flowers had to be planted in the ground five tiles from a bee house to have any effect, thus taking up valuable space. Now you can pot a flower and place it near a bee house anywhere you want to make flower honey. That frees up more arable land to use for more profitable crops.
As one of the biggest updates to “Stardew Valley” to date, version 1.6 introduced a host of new content, including new farm layouts, an RPG-inspired skill system, new festivals and events, events additional weather conditions, more pet varieties and 40 new mine layouts. It is so massive that Barone has suggested Fans should start a new save file just “to see everything in context.” “Stardew Valley” is a top contender on our list of the best Nintendo Switch games, so we hope Switch players will soon be able to join in on the fun.
