The New York Jets are 2-9 and will likely be eliminated from playoff contention in Week 13. But in year one of Aaron Glenn’s tenure, being a playoff team wasn’t a requirement.
However, there are still things to be worried about. The offense is very shaky, but a new quarterback can resolve that issue next season. But, on defense, there are some major concerns.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared one brutal statistic for Glenn’s defense, which is the team’s biggest issue on the defensive side of the ball. While there are solid individual players, the Jets are not turning the ball over much at all.

“Every team has at least six takeaways this season… well, except the New York Jets.” Russini writes. “New York has only forced one turnover – a Broncos fumble in London. That means the Jets haven’t forced a turnover on American soil since Week 18 of the 2024 season.”
This is a brutal statistic for the Jets’ defense in Glenn’s first year with the team. A lack of turnovers is bad enough, but for the Jets’ defense to not have any turnovers in the United States since the 2024 season is brutal.
It’s been 12 Weeks, and 11 games, and Glenn’s defense has yet to force a turnover this season outside of their London matchup.
They’re the only team in the NFL without an interception yet this season, and combined with their lack of sacks, only 19 through 11 games, there are a lot of concerns with this defense.

While Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams aren’t on the team, and a lot of new faces are on the defense, the lack of turnovers and sacks is a major concern for the Jets this season.
While they’re the 10th best in yards allowed this season, allowing just 193.7 yards per game, the Jets’ defense is still far from ideal.
Teams that lose the turnover battle typically lose more than they win, and with the Jets’ defense unable to get any turnovers, their odds of winning shrink significantly.
While this is just a brutal statistic amid a 2-9 lost season, the lack of turnovers is a major issue for Glenn to address this offseason.
