Deletion is one of the few tank characters in Sword of Convallaria, and while he’s an epic character, he has some serious hitting abilities in the middle of a battle. This particular build makes Suppression as defensive as possible, able to take hits on behalf of his teammates and make sure everyone stays alive.

He’s also very defensive against magical attacks, which you’ll encounter often, and his trait allows him to preemptively strike anyone who dares to attack him from the front or side. Ultimately, he’s a useful addition to any Papal States team, especially as the endgame approaches. To help you get the most out of his kit, here’s our Convallaria’s Sword Suppression Team Build and Compositions.

Best Convallaria Sword Removal Build

The Suppression trait is called Magic Suppression in Sword of Convallaria and reduces the damage he takes from magic attacks. At the same time, before taking active attacks from enemies within three squares of him, from the front or side, he performs a preemptive action that allows him to deal piercing DMG equal to 40% of his M.D.E.

His skill tree is simple enough to follow, we chose to unlock all of his defensive skills rather than his attack skills, making him very durable and able to take damage on behalf of our weaker units.

Here are the skills we recommend you unlock for removal:

  • Rank 1 – Resolution: Immediately recovers 5% HP when the character is defeated. Can be used once per battle.
  • Rank 3 – Devout Guard: The character dispels three debuffs, recovers 40% of HP, and gains 40% of Physical DEF and Magic DEF. Suppression then takes attacks from all other allies within two cells of him and increases his trait effect by up to 200%, for two turns. This effect cannot be dispelled.
  • Rank 5 – Defense (magical): When hit by an active Magic ATK, DMG taken is reduced by 15%.
  • Rank 7 – Flagellant: Gain a stack of Penance after taking DMG. Each stack reduces DMG taken by 8% and cannot be dispelled. Recover an additional NRG if Suppression has stacks of Penance at the end of a turn.
  • Rank 9 – Invigorating Strike: Deals 100% physical damage and additionally recovers one NRG.

At Rank 1, you can select any skill you like, but we went with Resolve. This skill gives Suppression an extra life, allowing him to resurrect with 5% of his HP if he is killed in combat. Provided you can heal him quickly using your healer, this can be very useful. However, you would hope to never need to use this skill.

For Tier 3, we went with the Devout Guard skill, which is an awesome skill for any tank. It allows Suppression to get rid of several debuffs while also greatly increasing his ATK and DEF, and for the next two turns, he will soak all attacks from other allies within two tiles. It’s an awesome skill to use when needed, giving you a chance to reposition and heal your other units safely.

Similarly, we’ve chosen to buff Suppression’s Magic DEF with our Rank 5 ability, Defense (Magic), making it a bit more effective at taking damage than it already is. You can opt for the alternate ability, Counterattack, if you feel it fits your playstyle better, but ultimately we want Suppression to be able to take as much aggro as possible from enemy units on behalf of our team.

Our rank 7 skill, Flagellant, can be swapped out for the Papal States Battle Flag, which increases the ATK and DEF of all Papal States allies in battle. This is great for a Papal States team, but I would prioritize his Flagellant skill first and invest in the leader’s Aura skill using your Castalia later. The Flagellant Suppression skill is arguably more powerful given the ability to recover NRG and increase his defenses.

At Rank 9, Piercing Strike is a tempting skill given its ability to reduce targets’ DEF after dealing 100% Physical DMG, but what we really want is the skill Invigorating Strike. This allows Suppression to recover a NRG after use, meaning we can continue to use our Rank 3 skill, Devout Guard, if needed.

Composition of the suppression teams

Your team composition will change regularly as you play Sword of Convallaria, as different battles often require different units until you get closer to the endgame content, Tower of Conquest. A good rule of thumb that we carry over into most of our build guides is to always take at least one tank, one healer, and two DPS units, but you’ll often be allowed a fifth unit as well.

You’ll also want to keep in mind what types of damage your team is capable of, combining physical and magical attackers. Likewise, don’t forget to look at what enemy units and traps are present on the battlefield; if there are a lot of Destroyers, you’ll need Seekers to counter them, and so on. As for traps, such as explosives or wine barrels, you’ll ideally want a ranged character to trigger them when enemies are close.

To get the most out of Suppression, we’re primarily looking to bring in faction allies from the Papal States. If you manage to unlock the Suppression Leader Aura skill and all of your units are from the Papal States, your entire team will benefit from a bonus to their ATK and DEF.

Likewise, if you have the legendary unit Caris (also from the Papal States), use it! His rank 7 skill, Glorious Guidance, will buff all allies on the field, regardless of faction, providing additional bonuses to allies affected by three or more buffs. It’s great when paired with faction allies, Divine Grace and Blade, who both have kits that revolve around them trying to get three buffs whenever possible (Divine Grace also deals ranged damage that can knock units back, which is nice!). And since Suppression often boosts his own defense, he can benefit from this skill as well.

You can also choose powerful legendary characters instead of Caris: Beryl and Garcia. Beryl is one of the best units in Sword of Convallaria right now, capable of dealing a lot of damage, and also belongs to the Papal States faction.

As for your healer, Angel is your best bet. She comes to you for free and her star level is easily upgraded accordingly, and she will also benefit from all the Papal States buffs. Alternatively, the legendary healer, Inanna, is your best bet if you don’t care about faction buffs. Early on, you can also forgo Angel and rely on Divine Grace and Blade’s healing skills, but you will need a dedicated healer sooner or later.

Similarly, you can also try combining Miguel and Col in your team if you have both characters. Miguel has the Wanderer Leader aura to unlock, which Col, also a Wanderer, can benefit from. Both characters also happen to be from the Papal States, so they can both benefit from being in a team with Suppression as well!

If you’re in desperate need of a Breaker, you might want to consider Leonide or the Papal Pikeman. Alternatively, while not from the same faction, we’ve had a lot of fun using Breaker Tempest as well.
