That means you won’t have to sacrifice discrete arrow keys or a dedicated kill button. That’s great news for touch typists. For gamers, the V3 Mini Hyperspeed features comfortable Razer Green or Yellow switches, as well as full RGB lighting, which you can sync with your other Razer gear.

Of course, the BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is extremely expensive, considering its size. How to choose the best gaming keyboard

There are three things to consider when trying to find the best gaming keyboard for your setup: design, features, and price. However, all three are interconnected: keyboards with more complex layouts and more sophisticated features cost more money. Simpler keyboards are cheaper. There are no special tricks here.

The first thing you’ll want to determine is whether you want a full-size keyboard or one without keys. This is a pretty simple decision: full-size keyboards have separate numeric keypads on the right, while tenkeyless models do not. If you do a lot of productivity work, a numeric keypad is worth it; If not, you can avoid it and save a few dollars.

During this time, you should also consider what type of switches you would like, if you are purchasing a mechanical model. Cherry MX is generally the gold standard. The most common types of Cherry switches are red, which is quiet and linear, brown, which is quiet and tactile, and blue, which is loud and tactile. Other switch manufacturers generally offer similar styles, although the color coding may be different.

Some features cost more money than others. RGB lighting can add a few dozen dollars to the price of a gaming keyboard, and wireless connectivity can make a peripheral even more expensive. Personally, I like both options, but they’re not necessarily worth it if you don’t care about the aesthetics of your setup. After all, wireless keyboards don’t necessarily offer much of an advantage, since keyboards are stationary devices.

How we test the best gaming keyboards

To determine the best gaming keyboard, we put every keyboard we review through a variety of tests. The first and most important test is to play several different games and see how the keyboard performs. I usually like to try out at least one FPS, RTS, RPG, and MMO each, as these are the genres that benefit the most from a good keyboard. (You can usually get away with a controller for most action/adventure titles.)

After that, we delved into a keyboard’s software suite, evaluating how easy (or difficult) it is to reprogram keys, set up macros, adjust lighting, and create gaming profiles. Particularly intuitive software gets high marks; Complicated software may lose some points, even if it is otherwise very robust.

Lastly, we make sure to use a keyboard for productivity for at least two to three days. Most gamers don’t change keyboards; What they use to play, they will also need for work and for computing in general. The better a keyboard is for everyday tasks, the better its recommendation will be.
