We are three weeks into Joey Graziadei’s televised search for love and, in the words of The Bachelor Maria Georgas from season 28, “the dumbest fight in Bachelor history” continues.
Despite the healthy dose of romance, excitement, heartfelt conversation and hope for the future in the first three episodes of Graziadei, two of the three weeks also included a dispute between contestants Georgas, Sydney Gordon and (tangentially) Madina Alam. Not only is the fight ridiculous, immature, and second-hand embarrassing, but it has a clear winner! So why does he still spend so much time in front of the screen? (Good TV, I know! Phew!)
Ahead of what is sure to be a nasty two-on-one date between Georgas and Gordon in Episode 4, Jugo Mobile shares our stance on The Bachelor Agegate from Season 28. Before we take sides, though, let’s go back to the beginning and try to remember how the heck this feud started.
Picture it: It’s Week 2 in the Bachelor mansion and the women bond over their feelings for Graziadei when Alam shares that she feels “a lot of pressure” because she’s 31 and the oldest contestant in the house. Since Graziadei is 28, Alam is “emotional” thinking about the age difference and where she is in life. After telling the cameras that she has a lot on the line as the eldest in the house, she tells the women: “For me, coming here when I’m 31, I feel like my time is very limited. “I really don’t have time to waste.” After sharing her feelings, Alam whispers, “I wish I hadn’t said that out loud now,” and the night continues. Most people quickly forget the comments, but they resonate with Georgas, 29, who is also older than Grazidei.
“A lot of us are older than Joey, so it’s not something we should feel insecure about. Should I feel bad because I am older What some of the girls here? Older than Joey? “I don’t feel weird about that,” Georgas tells the cameras. Later that night, he summarizes Alam’s concern for a friend and adds: “Madina, you are 31 years old. Take charge. Joey probably loves it!” To me, it sounded like Georgas was trying to identify with and elevate Alam. But Gordon overhears his conversation, feels that Georgas is “talking shit” and then decides to stir the pot by telling Alam. “Madina is my girl,” Gordon tells the cameras. “I’m not going to tolerate that and I’m going to say something.”
After Gordon tells Alam, she continues to gossip about Georgas, calling her “condescending” and threatening to tell Graziadei about her behavior. When a confused Georgas learns that Alam felt she minimized her feelings, she confronts her in an effort to squash the beef and then questions the women who started the drama. Gordon accuses Georgas of belittling Alam’s feelings and Georgas tries to defend her intentions.
As a 30-year-old single man watching this feud unfold, I must emphasize that going over 20 in NO WAY means you’re too old to find love. Did The golden bachelor You don’t teach us anything?! Anyway, that’s what Georgas is trying to communicate to the room. She asks Gordon to come with her next time before starting the drama, the two glasses click, and it looks like her flesh is crushed. Week 3 begins with Georgas visibly relieved to start with a clean slate. But once she and Gordon are invited to the same group date, Gordon tells the cameras that he “sucks” on a date with her, and the bad blood continues.
If he really wanted to drag Gordon down, he’d go into detail about his ridiculous “I was in Miss Mass Teen USA” confidence during the group dating contest. But let’s keep things related to The Feud. During the group date’s cocktail hour, Graziadei asks Alam about the drama at the house. Although she doesn’t name names, she says she felt “being bullied,” which prompts Graziadei to confront the group.
Once he leaves, Georgas asks, “What the fuck was that about?” Alam tells the women about her conversation with Graziadei, and Gordon quickly interrupts to add, “I felt intimidated too!” Girl please! Georgas tries to clear her name and put “Sydney Missy Troublemaker” in her place. Finally, Gordon says that she no longer “feels attacked” and says that she will leave if anyone wants to join. (From our point of view, none follow, which should say a lot.)
Fellow contestants say that “the whole thing is overblown” and “Maria is not a bully.” The next morning, Georgas even makes peace with Alam, but Gordon is still angry and promises that he won’t “let the bad girl win.”
During her time alone with Graziadei, Gordon says Georgas “attacked” and “verbally attacked” her and Alam. Horrified by her account, Graziadei immediately calls Georgas to tell him her side of the story. She calmly explains that the dispute “came out of nowhere” and was a total surprise to her. “I’ve been harassed and this is not all,” she said. “Since that experience, I never want to treat anyone as badly as I was treated in the past.” Georgas closed her argument by telling Graziadei that if he likes Sydney, there is no way he would like her back because they are two completely different people. After leaving the conversation, Graziadei admitted, “The way Maria spoke to me felt more real than the way Sydney spoke to me.” Although he gave both ladies a rose in the end, he called Maria’s name first, which feels like a small sign that he’s Team Maria too, as he should be!
While Maria minded her own business, repeatedly trying to make peace with both women, Sydney called her “a bad girl,” accused her of “looking for something” to make her look bad, and said she “attacked” and “I manipulated her.” with nothing to back up the tremendously serious claims. When Sydney looked directly into the camera and asked seriously, “Do you want me to give you my limb? Cut off a limb? Would that make her happy? In fact, I laughed.
The dispute is taking up precious time between Joey and the other women, who are fed up with the whole situation. While Sydney declines further and further each week, Maria remains strong and graceful. There’s no telling what next week’s dramatic two-on-one date will bring, but here’s hoping “the dumbest fight in Bachelor history” finally comes to an end, until “Women Tell All” week, that is say…
