Anthony Davis’ injury in the Lakers’ game against the Warriors on Saturday was a sight to behold. Literally.
Davis was forced to leave Los Angeles’ game against Golden State in the first quarter after receiving a blow to the eye.
The superstar forward has been on a roll lately, averaging 23.9 points, 13.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game since the All-Star break. He had one of his most dominant games of the season last week, posting 27 points, 25 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and three blocks in the win over the Timberwolves.
Davis’ freak accident comes at an inopportune time as the Lakers look to climb out of Play-In range and into the top six of the Western Conference.

What is Anthony Davis’ injury?
Davis was hit in the eye by Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis while driving to the rim and trying to finish a hotly contested layup.
Jackson-Davis appeared to elbow Davis’s head on the way up and his finger touched Davis’s eye on the follow-up.

Davis’s eye immediately swelled and he finally returned to the Lakers locker room.
He was diagnosed with a “corneal abrasion,” which is defined as “a trauma or tear to the delicate tissue of the outermost layer of the eye.” according to yalemedicine.org.
How long will Anthony Davis be out?
Davis was ruled out for the remainder of the Lakers’ game against the Warriors on Saturday.
His “vision was affected and his eye was swollen shut after contact.” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported After the match. He added that Davis will be monitored closely on Sunday to determine his availability for Monday’s game against Atlanta.
Los Angeles desperately needs its defensive anchor as it attempts to make up a 3.5-game deficit to move into the top six in the West with just 14 games remaining.
Davis has only missed four games this season. The Lakers are 1-3 in those contests.
