Since her “Fearless” era, Taylor Swift popularized the gesture of putting her hands together to form a heart. It has become a de facto call sign for many of the Swifties out there.

So when Travis Kelce flashed the heart sign after scoring a touchdown in the second quarter, it was widely assumed that it was intended for his famous girlfriend, who was watching the game from Kelce’s box. It turns out that Kelce’s gesture was not directed at her. She wasn’t even heading towards the checkout.

Instead, it was intended for Bills fans in the stands.

On the Kelce Brothers’ “New Heights” podcast, Kelce explained the heart gesture and kiss thrown into the stands when he was trying to “spread the love” because of all the negative energy in the stadium.

“There was a lot of hate coming into that stadium, man. A lot of understandable hate. It’s a football game,” Kelce said. “The Bills come into your house and want to make it loud. Did it get a little disrespectful? A thousand percent. Did it get a little more? A thousand percent.”

Jason Kelce asked his brother what was said, to which Travis responded that he wouldn’t share exactly what Bills fans said because “that’s what they want.”

“Some things were said about the families. Some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes. It was pretty crazy,” Travis Kelce said. “I get it. I get it. You know what I mean, coming into a hostile environment, I respect that, but I just wanted to make sure you guys knew it wasn’t mutual. I don’t hate them like you hate them.” us, it’s all love baby.”

“They don’t hate us. I was with them, they love you,” Jason Kelce responded.

Fans clearly loved Jason Kelce. He came out with the fans before the game. drinking from bowling balls, drinking beer, celebrating touchdowns shirtless and helping young fans get to know Swift.

It’s understandable why Bills fans aren’t interested in Travis Kelce and the Chiefs. Kansas City has eliminated the Bills from the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. In those three playoff wins, Travis Kelce caught 26 passes for 289 yards and five touchdowns, averaging more than a touchdown per game and 96.3 yards per contest.
