NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski left fans with one last “Woj Bomb,” announcing his retirement from ESPN on Wednesday.
Wojnarowski became an NBA Twitter and sports media legend for his quick-fire announcements. He used to announce trades so quickly that players would know they were leaving through his tweets. Turning on Wojnarowski’s notifications has become a mandatory tradition for NBA fans during free agency over the past decade.
He spent 10 years at Yahoo Sports from 2007 to 2017 before bringing his talents to ESPN from 2017 to 2024.
His career will now take another turn, as he will become general manager of the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball program.

“In his role as general manager, Wojnarowski will serve the coaching staff in managing a wide range of responsibilities, including name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities and serving as a liaison to the teams; transfer portal management; rookie, family and alumni relations; professional player programs; and program fundraising,” St. Bonaventure described his new position in its official release.
With the rapid growth and impact of the NIL in college sports, several schools have added a general manager role, particularly for their football and men’s basketball programs.
“I look forward to sharing with our community some of the best practices I’ve learned from the NBA’s most successful franchises and minds, and I’m committed to opening doors around the world for our players, on and off the court,” Wojnarowski said in the St. Bonaventure release.
Bonnies head coach Mark Schmidt called the hire a “home run,” according to the school’s statement.
