The latest DB anime series, Dragon Ball Daima, is set to finally give Vegeta a long-awaited Super Saiyan transformation that fans have been wanting to see canon for years.

Dragon Ball Daima will arrive on October 11, and the series will feature Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and the rest of the Z-fighters transformed into children, prompting the crew to embark on a quest to return to their adult selves.

Information continues to come in about the series, like its place in the timeline and new characters, but it turns out that Daima will also introduce something that Dragon Ball fans have been waiting nearly 30 years for.

According to a Dragon Ball insider Geekdom101In Dragon Ball Daima, Vegeta will finally reach Super Saiyan 3, but the form will not look exactly like Goku’s.

(the segment starts at 3:22)

SSJ3 Vegeta has existed in non-canon video games and other media in the past, but he has never reached this form in the anime or manga, but that is about to change.

As Geekdom reports, little Vegeta will take the form of Daima. While his appearance won’t feature eyebrows and longer hair, his hair won’t be flowing behind his back like Goku and Gotenks did. Instead, his hair will be more reminiscent of Gohan’s transformation into Beast when he fought Cell Max in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

According to Geekdom, this is likely an Easter Egg from Toriyama’s original concept art for SSJ3, which features spiky hair, albeit slightly back. This design was ultimately rejected, but it appears to be making a comeback in Daima.

Now, with Daima taking place right after the Buu arc in DBZ, one might wonder why Vegeta never uses this form in Dragon Ball Super. Well, the answer is that SSJ3 is an imperfect form.

Super Saiyan 3 is a very energy-intensive powerhouse. While it is very powerful, it drains stamina quickly, so Vegeta would probably be better off sticking with SSJ2 and perfecting his base.

Additionally, in Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta taunts SSJ3, stating that everything happening to Daima makes him hate the form – presumably discovering how much of a drain it can be during combat.

In Super, Vegeta also has access to the much more powerful Super Saiyan God and SSJGSSJ (Blue) forms, giving him little reason to use the SSJ3 transformation.

It’s unclear when Daima Vegeta will get access to SSJ3, but when he does, fans will surely lose their minds, as new transformations are always one of the highlights of any Dragon Ball series.
