The 2024 US Open is the final Grand Slam tournament of the year, so anticipation is high as the world’s best players descend on Flushing Meadows in New York for one of the sport’s most celebrated and historic events. First held in 1881, this will be the 144th edition of the premier tennis competition held on American soil.
The home crowd will be out in force to support Coco Gauff, who won her first Grand Slam singles title by beating Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 at last year’s tournament. She may be ranked third behind Sabalenka and world number one Iga Swiatek heading into this year’s event, but expect every swing Gauff makes to be cheered wildly in Queens.
Five American players are seeded in the top 14 heading into the first round, and that’s also the case on the men’s side. Sebastian Korda and Frances Tiafoe are both seeded in the top 20, while Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul are seeded 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.

The first round of matches in the ATP and WTA singles competitions begins on Monday August 26, with the order of play most days starting at 11:00 local time (ET) in the first, second, third and fourth (last 16) rounds.
The two days of quarter-finals will start from 12:00 PM ETwhile the WTA and ATP semi-finals on the following two evenings will begin at 7:00 PM ET And 3:00 PM ET respectively.
