Steve Erceg, an underdog, is ready to shock the world at UFC 301. “Astro Boy” challenges Alexandre Pantoja in Brazil for the UFC featherweight title.
Erceg had a record of 9-1 before joining the UFC in June 2023. The Australian is riding an eleven-fight winning streak and is 3-0 in the Octagon, with his last fight being a knockout win in March against Matt Schnell. It’s a last-minute fight for Erceg, tenth in the UFC flyweight rankings.

“I feel like I’ve made a career out of saying yes to anyone, anywhere, anytime, and I’m willing to lean into that,” Erceg told The Jugo Mobile. “In a perfect world, of course, you’d like to have maybe 12 weeks or something just to watch tape, prepare technically for certain things, change some things in your game, and then eight weeks off, really push yourself hard.

“I know I’ve worked hard for a long time, I know what I’m capable of and I’m excited to show it.”
Pantoja lost the semifinals of The Ultimate Fighter in 2016 but earned a contract with the UFC. Since that loss, he is 11-3 and riding a five-fight winning streak. “The Cannibal” has eight wins by knockout and ten by submission, last beating Brandon Royval for the second time to retain the UFC flyweight title.
